Congratulations to the Spartan Cross Country teams tonight, Sept. 29, at the Dick Mitchell Invitational at Forest Hills. The Boy’s team finished a strong 4th overall out of 11 teams and the Girl’s teams was 6th out of 9 teams.
In the boys race Max Engh led the way with a 11th place finish overall in 17:47. There were 75 varsity runners in the race. In a pack behind Max were Izak Anderson 17:55 (15th), Caleb Pokorny 18:36 (26th), Ethan Anderson 18:52 (32nd), Kole Nelson 18:53 (33rd), Sam Forbes 19:01 (38th) and Chad Merow 20:00 (60th).
Leading the JV team was Mathias Krein finishing in 19:55. He was followed by Ryan Mohr in 20:36, Brennen Kenworthy in 21:44, Sean Ferguson in 22:46 and Brady Towne in 24:37.
In the Girl’s race Taylor Winterton ran to a 5th place finish overall in a time of 20:27. There were 59 varsity runners in the girl’s race.
Aly Laufenberg finished in 22:27 (22nd), Angie Talsky 22:36 (23rd), Kari O’Rourke 23:03 (32nd), and Tori Hanson 24:16 (45th).
In the JV race Lydia Hone was the first Sparta finisher in 26:26, followed by Julianna Pokorny in 17:15 and Alyssa Falkner in 33:28.
The team is back in action Tuesday, Oct. 4, at the Skyline Golf Course in Black River Falls.
