The Sparta Area School District will celebrate Dia de los Ninos Children’s Diversity Day April 16 at Sparta High School. The day celebrates children and diversity through entertainment and family oriented activities from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 16. A free meal is also provided.
Children and their families are able to enjoy arts and crafts, games, cultural tables, watch Hispanic dancers, visit with our local police and firefighters, and learn about community resources.
Cultural and country tables created by volunteers will offer information and activities about places they have lived or visited. Children who attend will be given passports to visit the country tables that will be stamped.
New this year will be a ping pong tournament. Participants must register by 10 a.m. at Sparta High School.
Many volunteers help to make the day possible as well as contributions from the Sparta Public Education Foundation, Kwik Trip, McDonald’s and Organic Valley.
Also part of this year’s event will be the Sparta High School Key Club Sweet Dream’s Fundraiser for the Children’s Miracle Network. Students will be selling raffle tickets for baskets and baked goods. They will also host a giant Candy Land game.
