“No matter what kind of day it was, when asked how his day was going, Joel would always respond, ‘Best day ever!’ He made the most of each day and made time for other people. Joel inspired a lot of people, and we want to do the same by remembering him and bringing people together to celebrate how he lived his life,” said Pat Olbert, an event organizer and colleague.
“It is particularly appropriate to remember and honor Joel with a race,” said John Hendricks, Superintendent and an event organizer. “He was an avid and enthusiastic runner who shared his enthusiasm with everyone around him.”
“To me the ‘Best Day Ever Run’ is a reminder that true friendships can be a very rare thing. If you’re lucky enough to have a few good friends, cherish them,” said Mike Montgomery, an event organizer. “The race is also a reminder to enjoy life and live it with enthusiasm like Joel did. Never forget those that are close and important to you.”
