High Point Application
Enrollment applications will be accepted between Jan. 1 and May 20, 2016, for the 2016-17 school year. The Sparta Area School District strictly complies with all state and federal laws concerning nondiscrimination, therefore, no person will be denied admission to any public school in the District or be denied participation in, or be discriminated against in any curricular, pupil services, recreational, or other program or activity on the basis of age, color, race, national origin, sex, religion or handicap.
Sparta High Point School will strive to achieve diversity, and its enrollment will reflect the demographics of the Sparta Area School District. Enrollment is strictly voluntary. No student will be required to enroll Sparta High Point Charter School. Once a student is enrolled at Sparta High Point Charter School he/she does not need to resubmit application to maintain their student status. Should a student exit High Point Charter School and wish to return, he/she must submit the required application materials and participate in the interview process.
In the event that there are more applicants than there are open vacancies, a lottery process that will attempt to be sensitive to and reflect District student demographics will be implemented to select students. If space opens during the school year, applicants may be selected and placed to fill vacancies.
If the student is a student with special needs, SHPS first determines whether they will accept the student to SHPS as described above. If so, then the IEP team of the student will convene to determine whether placement at SHPS is in the student’s best interests. The IEP team will make the final determination whether the student will attend Sparta High Point Charter School.
