Volunteer help needed this summer to support Sparta Area School District School Garden

Join the Sparta Family Garden Club project where you can learn how to grow, care for, and harvest fresh produce for you and your family. There will be activities for children and their families as the garden matures, along with learning how to prepare and cook simple recipes for you and your family to enjoy. Spend quality family time while you harvest healthy additions to any meal. Sign-up your family for dates this summer to water and harvest the garden. Pick only what you want and enjoy the fruits of your labor. No experience is necessary. All you need to do is commit to the date(s) you choose. We will provide the additional details on what’s ripe that week and the specifics. For more information, available dates or to sign up, email garden@spartan.org or call Autumn Grooms, District Communications Coordinator at (608) 366-3400.
The Sparta Area School District Garden is located in the back of the Sparta High School near the track off of Black River Street. We have 20 garden beds that will have a variety of vegetables, fruits and herbs to choose from including tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, cilantro, dill, kohlrabi, strawberries, broccoli, cabbage, spinach, zucchini, and more.
A Wisconsin Medical Society Foundation School Garden Grant is helping to support these projects.
