Community Resources
Below is a list of Coronavirus (COVID-19) related resources available to members of our community. Please check back often as this list will be updated. If you know of a community resource that is not listed here, please send details to communications@spartan.org.
- CouleeCap is offering a COVID-19 Financial Assistance Program that supports workers at risk of falling behind on critical bills because of unemployment or significant loss of work due to the COVID-19 emergency. Assistance may be given for rent, car payments, prescription or healthcare costs, utility bills and other important expenses.
- Wisconsin Home Energy Assistance Program (WHEAP) provides assistance for heating costs, electric costs, and energy crisis situations. Operating with federal and state funding, the program provides assistance to households across the state to help lower the burden incurred with monthly energy costs.
- Foundation for Rural Housing – Critical Assistance can help with delinquent rental assistance, security deposits, mortgage assistance, utility assistance, property tax assistance, and more.
- Families First of Monroe County helps families with Goodwill vouchers, infant care items, Housing/utility assistance, & emergency financial assistance.
- Managing your Personal Finances in Tough Times, a resource from UW-Madison Extension
- Spectrum is offering free home internet access for students who may need it while face-to-face instruction is cancelled due to COVID-19. Households with a child in preschool-college can qualify. Call Spectrum at 855-707-7328 and ask for the free internet for students affected by school closures due to COVID-19. Households may receive up to 2 months of free service. If they do not cancel services before the 3rd month begins, they will be charged the promotional new customer rate of $49.99/month. Free internet services are available at standard speeds. High speeds are not available. There is no installation fee. Services are available everywhere that Spectrum provides regular internet services.
- The HomeNet Program is a financial resource for in-home internet access during the school year for families that do not currently have internet service.
- Sparta Free Library has open wi-fi you can access from the parking lot, no appointment needed. You can also schedule a time to use one of their computers.
- There is also wi-fi available in the parking lots of Sparta High School (by greenhouse), Herrman Elementary School (playground and parking lot), Cataract Elementary School, and Memorial Field.
- The Parenting Place is offering parenting supports online and via phone. They offer Parent Educator support via phone at (608) 784-8125 from 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. on weekdays.
- Great Rivers 2-1-1 offers free, confidential community information and referrals 24 hours/day. Dial 2-1-1 or (800) 362-8255 to talk to an information and referral specialist.
