Our Story (Link to our submission video)
Innovations STEM Academy is a 6th through 8th grade STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) school that uses real-world problem solving and experiences. In a smaller setting, students receive immediate support and guidance which enhance both academic and social development. The challenging curriculum is designed to be student centered which increases technological abilities and leadership skills. Our goal is to connect what happens in our classroom to the businesses, industry and community of Sparta, WI.
INSPIRE
At Innovations STEM Academy (ISA), students are empowered to lead, learn, create, and thrive. We encourage leadership by giving students opportunities to teach younger peers within the district and in multi-aged classes. With a multi-level, three-year curriculum and personalized learning, students push themselves to higher academic levels. Standards-based grading creates high expectations while allowing choice. The focus on real-world experiences in our community helps students connect learning to everyday life. Our approach builds confidence, leadership, and strong academic skills, preparing students to succeed in high school and beyond in the dynamic and ever-changing world.

IMAGINE
Our school empowers students and staff to imagine new possibilities through agency, collaboration, creativity, and a strong learning culture. At ISA, students explore courses like Coding, Technology, and Engineering, which inspire critical thinking and innovation. Teachers facilitate and support student-led projects and adapt lessons to meet diverse needs. A flexible schedule allows for deeper learning and creative problem-solving. Learning extends beyond the classroom through community site visits, guest presenters, and family engagement at showcase events throughout the year. The culture of innovation and collaboration inspires students to take ownership of their learning for bold solutions to their future.
IMPACT
With ISA’s multi-aged, thematic STEM-focused curriculum, our students are connected within the community and world by promoting research, accessibility, and equity. Students engage in real-world investigations while working with the DNR or in a hospital setting. Multi-grade classrooms paired with personalized learning ensures that every student can succeed, no matter their background or ability. We celebrate diverse voices from all cultures while designing inclusive, challenge-based projects. Through flexible pacing and scheduling, accessibility tools, and social-emotional teaching, we create a learning environment where all students thrive. Our students don’t just learn, they test, develop, and create to lead meaningful change.
