Congratulations to the Building & Grounds Team!

Safety appears to be a top priority for Sparta Area School District. District staff won the team and individual prizes in the Wisconsin Association of School Business Officials (WASBO) Safety Room Challenge at the WASBO Custodial & Maintenance Conference in Holmen on July 13. Sandy Kruger, Josh Leis, Jim Ebert, Arleen VanVoorhees, and Betty Cummings won the team challenge, while Dale Hemmersbach won the individual challenge.

The Safety Room Challenge tasked teams and individuals with identifying and explaining how to resolve hazards staged by the Holmen School District's staff at Holmen High School. The safety concerns ranged from a chain saw out with no guard for the chain to trip hazards. The score was based on the number of accurate answers provided in just ten minutes. WASBO encourages districts to share this news on social media and to local news outlets.

The WASBO Custodial & Maintenance Conference is held in several Wisconsin locations annually and features practical, hands-on knowledge that school personnel can implement in their districts. Additional Custodial & Maintenance Conferences were held in Crivitz on June 22 and Cameron on June 29, and conferences are being held in Tomorrow River on July 20 and Pewaukee on July 27. WASBO provides professional development for school business staff, fosters a network of support, and advocates for funding that ensures outstanding educational opportunities for all children in Wisconsin.
