Hunter Belongia, of the Sparta Area School District, receives 2022
WASBO Custodian/Maintenance Professional of the Year Award

MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin Association of School Business Officials (WASBO) recognized Hunter Belongia, Head Custodian, Sparta Area School District, as the recipient of one of three 2022 WASBO Custodian/Maintenance Professional of the Year awards on March 7, 2023, at the Kalahari Convention Center during the 2023 Facilities Management Conference. Belongia is the recipient from the Northwest Region of Wisconsin.

The Custodian/Maintenance Professional of the Year Award — sponsored by SERVPRO — acknowledges the outstanding contributions of those who are making a difference to their local school district, community, and the custodial and maintenance profession. Hunter Belongia, former custodian for the Pulaski Community School District, is being recognized for his superior work ethic, willingness to help others, and the personal connection he makes with students. Some of his biggest accomplishments with the district included developing a Golden Trash incentive for the building, which encourages students to clean up after themselves and others. After working in Pulaski for three years, Hunter recently accepted a new position at Sparta Area School District and was then promoted to a Head Custodian within eight months.
