Sparta High School Boys Varsity Basketball Coach
The Sparta Area School District and Sparta High School’s Activity Department is proud to announce Ben Schell as the next Boys Varsity Basketball Coach at Sparta High School. Coach Schell replaces Coach Phil Yahnke who coached the team for the past seven years.
Coach Schell’s background includes being involved with the Sparta Basketball Association as a coach, board member, and parent. Ben is currently employed at Mathew’s as an E-Commerce Business Manager. He previously was a sales and purchasing manager for Lake States lumber.

I want to welcome Ben Schell as our next head boys basketball coach . I’m really excited to have a coach with ties to the community that has a record of building strong relationships. He brings a wealth of experience from many years in coaching with the girls program and being a leader in SBA. I look forward to working with Ben.

I strongly believe I have what it takes to make a positive impact on the boys' basketball program. I am very excited about the opportunity to lead this team and represent the Sparta community. As a team and program, I hope we can build on the success we had this past summer.
An opportunity to meet Coach Schell will be on Monday, August 7, starting at 7:15 p.m. at Sparta High School.
