What Constitutes a Spartan Lunch
The Sparta Area School District Nutrition Program is participating in the USDA Seamless Summer Option (SSO) for the entirety of the 2021-2022 school year. This means that our school district is providing free meals to all students!
What food items do I need to take to make a Spartan Lunch?
Notice: Students who do not take 3 of the 5 meal components at Sparta High School and Meadowview Middle School will be charged ala carte pricing. Students in grades Kindergarten through 4th grade must take 3 of the 5 meal components.
Students must be offered a lunch that contains:
- Food prepared from the 5 meal components
- Serving sizes that are appropriate for the age/group level
The 5 meal components are:
- Meat or Meat Alternate Offering
- Vegetable Offering
- Fruit Offering
- Bread/Grain Offering
- Milk Offering
Students must take a fruit or a vegetable to qualify for a Spartan Lunch.
