Special Education

Parents:

The Sparta Area School District is committed to designing and developing programs for those students that are identified with a special education need. Special education services are offered to parents at no cost, and the District is responsible for identifying and providing those services, which can include adapting content, teaching methodologies, and delivery of instruction to meet the unique needs of the students.

Wisconsin’s rule for identifying students with specific learning disabilities (SLD) changed beginning in the 2013-14 school year. All initial SLD evaluations of students in the Sparta Area School District will use information from interventions to make eligibility decisions.

Initial SLD evaluations in the Sparta Area School District will be using information from a student’s response to intensive, scientific research based or evidence based interventions when making special education eligibility decisions.
